Aaron Clyde Blauer 1939-2010

A. Clyde Blauer returned to his heavenly home on May 24, 2010 following a courageous battle with the aggressive neurological disorder–Lewy Body Disease.
Clyde was born in View, Idaho on April 26, 1939 to Henry and Lucile Blauer. He was raised on a farm where he developed a strong work ethic, along with his five siblings.

He graduated from Burley High School, received his Masters Degree from Brigham Young University, and pursued post graduate work at Cornell University. Education was always very important to him.

Clyde married his sweetheart, Geaneen Whittle, on September 14, 1962 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They were blessed with seven children, all of whom reside in Utah: Alan (Vicki) of Pleasant Grove, Robert (Stephanie) of Parowan, Lucy (Alan) Walbeck of Sandy, Anthony (Jenny) of Manti, Elizabeth (Ed) Dover of Ogden, Amy (Brody) Perschon of Herriman, and Katie (Derek) Miller of Provo. He was a loving grandfather to thirty two grandchildren.

During his thirty nine years as a dedicated professor of Life Sciences at Snow College, Clyde was able to touch the lives of thousands of students as he passed on his knowledge of the microscopic world and his great love for the beauties of nature. Most of his summers were spent in the mountains doing research for the U.S. Forest Service. Upon his retirement from Snow College, he was honored by having the Snow College greenhouse named after him.

Clyde was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities. As a young man he served in the Southwest Indian Mission. From that experience he gained a great love for the Hopi and Navajo people and their culture. He was highly involved in Scouting and the Young Men’s program. He also served as a Bishop, a Counselor in the Snow College Stake Presidency, and as an ordinance worker in the Manti, Utah Temple. He and Geaneen served together in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. He shared his unwavering testimony and love for the Savior through service, example, and his kind spirit.

Clyde was known for his exceptional green thumb. It didn't matter if he was in his green house, his gorgeous yard or his abundant garden, everything he touched seemed to grow and become beautiful. He was truly in his element outdoors. He loved being up in the mountains where he could breathe the fresh air, and have beauty all around him. He was known as a kind, trustworthy man, and was looked up to and loved by many. He had a deep love for his family, his greatest accomplishment, and found pure happiness in seeing his children and grandchildren walk in truth.

Clyde is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his siblings: Harold (Phyllis),Willis (Norene), Bonnie (Kenneth) Hansen , Cecil (Merle), and Lorin (Jeri).

The family wishes to express appreciation to Hospice of Utah for their excellent service and to thank all those at the Golden Skyline Assisted Living Center who lovingly cared for him during the final weeks of his life.

Viewings will be held: Thursday May 27 at 6:00-8:00pm
                                and Friday May 28, at 11:30am-12:30pm
Funeral services will be held, Friday May 28, at 1:00 pm at the Ephraim Stake Center, 400 East Center.
